from the interior 2013 Ford Fusion NASCAR model year

The 2013 Ford Fusion NASCAR Sprint Cup car unveiled as part of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Tour was worked on by Ford designers in an effort to bring brand identity back to the sport. The result is undeniable with the 2013 Sprint Cup car mirroring the recently unveiled 2013 Ford Fusion production car

Featuring a completely redesigned sleek new silhouette and fresh face, the 2013 Fusion Sprint Cup car was designed to be the face of a new era of stock car racing.

"We wanted Fusion to be the car that helped return 'stock car' to NASCAR stated Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing. "I think fans, when they see the car, are just going to smile and cheer. It is going to reengage them with the sport and make the sport better because there is just something natural about seeing race cars that look like cars in their driveways

This marks the third time Ford simultaneously launched production and NASCAR versions of a new model The first dual launch came in 1968, with the sleek fastback Ford Torino Legendary NASCAR driver David Pearson drove the Torino to back-to back NASCAR championships in 1968 and 1969 The second time came in 2006 when the then newly introduced Ford Fusion appeared in showrooms and on the track

Ford took a different approach with the development of the 2013 Fusion NASCAR racer Ford Design Center staff led by Garen

Nicoghosian and Ford aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus spent the past year doing the early design development freeing up the Ford race teams to concentrate on weekly NASCAR competition

This is a seminal moment in the sport where we had a chance to get it right once again and make sure the race cars are race versions of street cars. And I am proud because I believe we have accomplished just that continued Allison.  The 2013 Fusion is a stunning car and the 2013 NASCAR Fusion is even more stunning and I can't wait to see it perform on the track and connect with race fans

Ford designers led by Nicoghosian addressed three main issues to mirror the 2013 Sprint Cup Fusion to the 2013 production Fusion found on showroom floors

Designers addressed the overall proportion of the race car to reflect proportions found in the production Fusion.
Brand and design cues in the side of the vehicle.
An identifiable front end grill with the distinctive look of a Ford.

"It looks fun to drive and very much eager to go and tear up the track. It has a very aggressive stance from the outside and the inside. From all angles the vehicle exudes performance and I think it reflects our general attitude of how we go about setting up our cars very very nicely said Nicoghosian It brings a certain level of nimbleness and lightness and agility to the NASCAR platform, much like we do in our production cars because all of our production cars have that nimbleness and agility and eagerness about them

The new NASCAR Fusion entries will be tested throughout the 2012 campaign in preparation for their racing debut at the 2013 Daytona 500

Ford Fusion Hybrid  2013

Ford Fusion Hybrid model year 2013 The All-new Ford Fusion brings alive the next generation of more expressive vehicles from Ford and is the first sedan to offer gasoline hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions   each expected to deliver top fuel economy and an engaging driving experience

Featuring a sleek silhouette and fresh face the all-new Fusion is the latest in a series of vehicles from Ford following the 2011 Fiesta subcompact and 2012 Focus small cars developed to satisfy customers everywhere who want leading fuel efficiency, helpful technologies and game changing looks

Our vision for Fusion was clear - deliver the very best of what One Ford stands for  said Derrick Kuzak group vice president of Global Product Development  We brought our global teams together around a blank slate with the charge to develop a midsize car with groundbreaking design and jaw dropping fuel economy  one that featured technologies to help make our customers safer and better drivers This car is the result

Ford Fusion is revealed in North America in S, SE and range topping Titanium series and points to the next Ford Mondeo for world markets

Triple crown fuel efficiency

The new Fusion is expected to deliver best-in-class fuel economy across customers  choice of gasoline hybrid and plug in hybrid sub-segments following through with the commitment by Ford to be the fuel-efficiency leader or among the leaders with each new model brought to market

Ford Fusion brings the broadest selection of fuel-efficient powertrains in the midsize car segment It offers hybrid and plug-in hybrid alternatives, a pair of EcoBoost™ four engines, a normally aspirated four cylinder engine an automatic start stop system to shut off the engine at stationary idle front wheel drive and all wheel drive applications and a choice between automatic and manually shifted six-speed transmissions

The 1.6 liter EcoBoost is expected to deliver best in class four cylinder non hybrid fuel efficiency of 26 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine  paired with a paddle shifted six-speed SelectShift Automatic™ transmission available 19-inch wheels and tires, and all-wheel drive with the ability to send additional torque to the rear is the Fusion performance option

The Fusion Hybrid  2010 North American Car of the Year continues to innovate and evolve with all new lithium-ion batteries that save weight and generate more power than previous nickel-metal hydride batteries, while raising maximum speed under electric-only power from 47 mph to 62 mph

Ford Fusion Hybrid also features an all new 2.0 liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine significantly downsized from the previous 2.5 liter unit while maintaining performance standards. This innovative powertrain is anticipated to deliver best in class fuel economy of 47 mpg in city driving and 44 mpg on the highway

Ford Fusion Hybrid fuel economy stands to outperform the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid by 4 mpg city and 5 mpg highway and the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid by 12 mpg and 4 mpg respectively

Topping the fuel efficiency ladder is the Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid aiming to be the most fuel efficient midsize car in the world. Arriving this fall Fusion Energi is anticipated to deliver more than 100 MPGe a mile per gallon equivalency metric for electrified vehicles This is 8 MPGe more than the Chevrolet Volt and 13 MPGe more than the projected efficiency of the Toyota Prius plug in hybrid model

The next generation Fusion 1.6 liter is the first automatic-transmission Ford product offered with an automatic start stop system. It shuts off engine power smoothly when the car is stopped and seamlessly restarts as the driver releases the brake pedal  helping Fusion to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by approximately 3.5 percent

Ford Fusion looks out for you

The all new Fusion offers an unprecedented portfolio of driver assistance and convenience technologies based on sensors cameras and radar that enable the car to see and respond

Ford Fusion can help drivers maintain proper lane position adjust vehicle speed to changing traffic conditions identify suitable parking spaces and help park even aiding drivers backing out of parking space where visibility is obstructed. Specific technologies include

Lane Keeping System This class-exclusive technology consists of three elements to help a driver maintain proper lane position Using a small, forward-facing camera behind the inside rearview mirror, the system  looks down the road, monitoring lane lines to determine that the car is on course The system will alert a driver if drowsiness or erratic lane keeping is detected. The second element warns a driver with a steering wheel vibration if the Fusion drifts too close to lane markings Finally lane keeping aid will actually apply pressure on the steering to help bring the car back into proper lane position
Adaptive cruise control Using forward-looking radar, this system  looks down the road when activated slowing the Fusion when slower traffic is detected ahead. Adaptive cruise control enables collision warning with brake support to help slow the car if the potential of a crash is detected
Active park assist Employing sensors this technology can identify a suitable parallel parking space calculate the trajectory and steer the car to properly position it within the spot All a driver need do is operate accelerator and brake pedals
Blind Spot Information System  BLIS with cross traffic alert Sensors in both Fusion rear quarter-panels are able to detect traffic in a driver's blind spot, providing both audible and visual warnings if traffic unseen by the driver is detected. BLIS technology enables cross-traffic alert warning the driver of oncoming traffic when backing out of a parking space with obstructed views such as between two large vans

The power of voice

The all new Fusion offers the latest iteration of Ford's award winning industry exclusive SYNC® communications and entertainment system which enables voice activated communication through a driver's mobile phone and interaction with the car's audio system

Fusion also offers the latest version of MyFord Touch allowing a driver to interact with vehicle systems through voice control a touch screen tap or a conventional button

Both SYNC and MyFord Touch powered by SYNC help reduce the potential for driver distraction through voice-controlled functionality allowing drivers to keep hands on the wheel and eyes on the road

Different by design

The previous Fusion was an easy purchase for a customer to rationalize said Chris Hamilton chief exterior designer for the next-generation model Our design goal for the new car was to give the mainstream sedan buyer a top drawer visual experience  adding some emotional appeal to an already sensible choice

These five elements provided direction for the design team behind the all-new Ford Fusion

Silhouette innovation Fusion's sleek profile sets it apart from the powertrain/cabin trunk  three-box designs synonymous with midsize sedans
Perceived efficiency Fusion character lines sweeping to the rear and thin roof pillars suggest the car is nimble and light on its feet
Refined surface language Fusion demonstrates that a tasteful well executed design does not require add-ons or visual clutter
Technical graphics Fusion's functional design elements such as headlamps, LED taillamps and polished exhaust tips communicate enhanced technological capability
New face Fusion signals the next evolution in Ford global design language for midsize cars and smaller

Inside the new Fusion offers a sporty driver oriented environment with next-generation seating that brings expanded functionality A higher center console supports the driver centric theme and yields clever storage for items a driver wants to keep handy

Additional passenger space was designed in by moving the instrument panel toward the windshield contributing to the cabin's airy open environment Thinner lighter frames support the comfortable next-generation seats trimmed with fabric using recycled sustainable yarns

Craftsmanship plus dynamics equals feel

Ford Fusion design delivers on the promise of high visual quality with improved materials elevated levels of craftsmanship and attention to detail

Interior surfaces are softer to the touch and interior and exterior gaps are minimized, while extra care has been taken to upholster or cover each edge and every surface a customer can touch When the trunk lid is opened, for example a spring-loaded cover automatically conceals the trunk latch hardware

The holistic goal of our craftsmanship process is to see that Fusion not only delivers a superior visual experience but also feels like quality to the customer said Adrian Whittle Fusion chief engineer

Key contributors to how the Fusion feelsare the ride and handling components that maximize vehicle dynamics

This really is a driver's car said John Jraiche, program manager Fusion is even more fun to drive with specially tuned electric power-assisted steering  EPAS a MacPherson strut front suspension and an all-new premium-level multilink rear suspension comparable to Audi and BMW configurations

Careful tuning by Ford's vehicle handling and ride team has yielded a Fusion with a dynamic character that will please a well-seasoned enthusiast while increasing the confidence level of less-experienced drivers

Ford Fusion interior quiet reaches a new level with acoustic underbody shields and weight-saving sound absorption material; both minimize road and powertrain noise while boosting aerodynamic efficiency to help save fuel The all-new model adds content such as a full perimeter hood seal to be among the midsize sedan segment leaders in giving drivers a quiet ride

Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi models also are equipped with active noise control. This feature uses the audio system to mitigate extraneous road noise while enhancing powertrain sounds.

Strength and safety

Fusion is designed with customer safety in mind Engineers increased its body strength by 10 percent, using more high strength steels such as boron and added dual first row knee airbags and adaptive front airbags that vent and tether to conform to a specific occupant's size position and seatbelt usage

The Fusion safety team targeted top of-the-line ratings in each public domain safety benchmark including National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ratings the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick and top ratings in world markets where the car will be sold

The most prominent example is Ford Fusion's front end architecture as the same car must face simultaneous  and seemingly conflictive  standards across regions The car's front end is equipped to meet head-on and offset barrier standards for North America while still conforming to European standards for pedestrian protection   thanks to hours of computer modeling and 180 validating crash tests

Ford Fusion will be produced at Ford's Hermosillo Mexico manufacturing facility soon adding production at AutoAlliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Mich. The car will appear in Ford showrooms in North America and South America later in 2012 Mondeo will be introduced in 2013 in Asia and Europe

It's a car built for driving enthusiasts all around the world and they will not be disappointed

The Ford ST Global DNA

Beneath the skin of the new Focus ST is a detailed DNA for the ST range, established in Ford's exciting global performance car strategy. Working together, the Global Performance Vehicles group - made up of Ford Team RS in Europe and the Special Vehicles Team (SVT) in the United States, along with input from Ford experts in the Asia Pacific and Africa region - devised a strategy that all future global performance Ford cars will adhere to.

"Focus ST hasn't come around by chance," said Capito. "What came first was our global performance strategy, which has been developed with North America, Europe and Asia together. With this, the core DNA attributes like the steering, driving dynamics, the sound quality and the power enhancements for all ST models have all been defined to the extent that our engineers can take that global DNA fingerprint and use it to create the new Focus ST."

Like all future ST models, the new Focus ST has key physical DNA attributes like the aggressively enhanced front and rear bumpers, the addition of a rear spoiler and sideskirts plus a unique signature colour.

In both five-door and wagon form, the scintillating Focus ST delivers the same driving attributes that makes all Ford 'Sports Technologies' models stand out amongst the competition. The chassis, engine, sound and comfort of the vehicle are tuned harmoniously to deliver a truly sporty experience with a level of refinement rarely seen in this sector of vehicle. These same attributes will form the genetic code for future models bearing the ST badge.

More Power and Economy

For global customers, Focus ST is powered by the 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost engine, which offers an uncompromising mix of performance and efficiency. Ford's lightweight, all-aluminum EcoBoost engines provide the power of a larger engine in a fuel-efficient smaller displacement, utilising three key technologies.

High pressure direct injection, low-inertia turbocharging and Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT) all help to create an advanced combustion system which brings new levels of performance and fuel efficiency to Ford's petrol engines.

Ford's Global Performance Vehicles group has taken this technology and developed a 250PS high-output derivative of the 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost engine for Focus ST.

Redesigned intake and exhaust systems with unique engine calibration deliver the ideal level of power and responsiveness.

The engine has a maximum output of 250PS and strong torque levels in a broad, flat torque curve peaking at 360Nm. The responsive torque output, a trademark of Ford EcoBoost engines, is maintained despite the impressive peak figures.

Compared to the 2.5-litre, 5-cylinder engine in the previous-generation European Focus ST, the new 4-cylinder engine offers increased performance, but its smaller capacity and innovative technology also allow it to be more fuel efficient.

The EcoBoost 2.0 in the Focus ST is expected to cut both CO2 emissions and fuel consumption by more than 20 per cent from the previous-generation European model when fuel consumption data is certified.

"This is the first time we have used a 4-cylinder Ford EcoBoost engine in a high performance model and the results are phenomenal," said Capito. "Drivers will have a lot of power and torque throughout the rev range to use. For everyday driving, though, the characteristics of this car will let them drive in a more fuel efficient way than previously, which is an essential part of the ST's DNA."

Mated to the 2.0-litre engine is a 6-speed manual transmission, which has specially revised gearing to produce the maximum punch from each throw of the gear shift. The Global Performance Vehicles group spent significant attention to detail to ensure the ratio of sixth gear was perfectly in tune with the Focus ST, giving the driver optimum performance while remaining long enough to help maintain excellent fuel economy on longer runs.

from the inside Ford Flex model year 2013

Fans of the Ford Flex have even more to love with an upgraded model with a sleek new look and even more technology to make driving safer, easier and more fuel-efficient.

Flex appeals to people who want to stand out from the crowd and has the highest retention rate of any vehicle in the Ford lineup said Mark Fields, president of The Americas. "With technologies not found in other full-size utilities even better fuel economy and a more modern, sophisticated look we're offering people even more reasons to choose Flex with the new model

The seven-passenger, three-row crossover - which debuts at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show - comes equipped with the new generation of MyFord Touch, rear inflatable belts, collision-avoidance technologies, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, first-row heated and cooled seats, power-fold mirrors and an optional new Appearance Package. Plus, the base 3.5-liter engine is projected to deliver 1 mpg better fuel economy on the highway and in the city, with 20 more horsepower.

Enhanced technology

The new Flex features SYNC® with the new generation of MyFord Touch making it easier to manage information, control features and adjust settings.

"We've listened to our customers and have improved what they love about MyFord Touch," said Kenneth Williams, systems integration engineer. "In this upgrade, the screens have a cleaner, clearer display. The words on the screens are larger and easier to read, the pressable areas on the screen look more like buttons, and we have made the functions clearer for faster navigation.

"What separates MyFord Touch is that there are multiple ways for customers to manage and control what they want through voice commands, menus accessed through the steering wheel controls, touch screen, buttons or knobs - whatever they prefer

MyFord Touch includes two 4.2-inch screens in the instrument cluster and an eight-inch screen in the center stack. The feature pairs with the latest version of SYNC.

The base SYNC package includes

Hands-free, voice-activated calling via a Bluetooth®-connected mobile phone or USB-connected digital music player

911 Assist™, the automated emergency calling service that is free for the life of the vehicle
Vehicle Health Report, the on-demand diagnostic and maintenance information service

Enhanced safety and driver-aid technology

The new Ford Flex is equipped with the automotive world's first production rear inflatable belts to offer improved comfort and protection for rear seat passengers. Last month, this safety innovation was named a Breakthrough Product Award winner by Popular Mechanics, part of the magazine's seventh annual Breakthrough Awards.

The advanced restraint system is designed to help reduce head, neck and chest injuries for rear seat passengers, often children and older passengers who can be more vulnerable to such injuries.

Advances in airbag inflation and safety belt construction methods have enabled Ford and its suppliers to develop inflatable seat belts that are designed to deploy over a vehicle occupant's torso and shoulder in 40 milliseconds in the event of a crash.

The new second-row belts operate like traditional safety belts in everyday use and inflate when sensors indicate a collision event. Each belt's tubular airbag inflates with cold compressed gas, which flows through a specially designed buckle from a cylinder housed below the seat.

The new Ford Flex also boasts available radar-enabled adaptive cruise control (ACC) and collision warning with brake support and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) with cross-traffic alert. These technologies help drivers avoid potential accidents using radar to detect the relative position of other vehicles and warn the driver with a combination of visual and audio alerts.

The ACC technology uses advanced radar to scan for vehicles in front of Flex at 20 times per second. The sensor can detect vehicles up to 150 yards away and detect speed changes as small as ¼ mph. When the system is activated, it functions like normal cruise control with the exception of being able to slow down the car when vehicles in front are detected to be slowing down. When traffic has cleared, the vehicle resumes the set speed. Four distance settings accommodate a range of driving styles and road conditions. The driver can set distance, speed and the time gap between vehicles.

Fuel economy bolstered by engines, technologies

Under the hood, Ford Flex's new base engine delivers even more efficiency and performance with the addition of twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) to the 3.5-liter V6.

The upgraded 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 engine provides 285 horsepower - an approximate 20 horsepower increase from the previous engine - and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. The new Flex also is projected to deliver 1 mpg more fuel economy, with projected fuel economy of 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

This efficient V6 allows precise, variable control of valve overlap, or the window of time in which both the intake and exhaust valves in an engine are open at the same time. By adjusting overlap continuously, the engine can operate at optimum settings for peak fuel economy or peak power output as conditions demand.

The popular 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 remains on the new Ford Flex, bringing the fuel economy of V6 engines with all-wheel-drive capability and V8-like performance of 355 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque.

A key contributor to EcoBoost fuel efficiency is direct injection of gasoline. This system precisely delivers a fine mist of fuel directly into each cylinder for optimal performance, economy and emissions.

EcoBoost engines are fundamental to the Ford strategy of providing technologically advanced, high-output, smaller-displacement powertrains that deliver exceptional fuel economy and uncompromised performance for millions of drivers around the world. By 2013, more than 90 percent of Ford's North American lineup will be available with EcoBoost technology. Ford holds more than 125 patents on its EcoBoost engine technology.

Both engines are mated to a six-speed SelectShift Automatic® transmission.

The SelectShift advanced gearbox offers the driver a choice between fully automatic operation and manual control. With SelectShift with EcoBoost, paddle shifters are integrated into the steering wheel spokes. Intuitive to operate, a squeeze back on either paddle will deliver an upshift, while a gentle push forward on either paddle will induce a matched-rev downshift. SelectShift won't second-guess the driver with an override shift; manual control is truly manually controlled. The thumb shift is new for 2013 with the standard engine models.

Both engines also are made more efficient with EPAS (electric power-assisted steering). EPAS improves fuel economy approximately 4 percent and reduces emissions while improving steering performance primarily because the steering system is powered by an electric motor connected to the vehicle's battery, instead of engine-mounted hydraulic pump steering systems.

In addition, the new Ford Flex's battery management system operates the vehicle's power supply system in a more economical manner to save fuel. The system:

Allows the alternator and system voltage to be controlled based on battery condition, vehicle operating state and electrical load status
Provides feedback to the vehicle regarding battery condition for active load management and battery diagnostics
Monitors battery temperature (higher voltage in lower temperatures, lower voltage in higher temperatures), extending the battery life

Fresh new look, touches - inside and out

Ford Flex's new front end rounds out the previously boxy edges, creating more visual harmony between the front and the rest of the vehicle. The signature Ford blue oval has been removed from the front, which now solely bears the Flex badge.

In the rear, Flex now has standard dual exhaust and available rear appliqué.

Inside the Ford Flex customers will find a modern, sophisticated driver zone with new clusters, steering wheel and electronic finish panels, as well as new seat trim and foam.

Class-exclusives include the available second-row refrigerated console and the latest generation of MyFord Touch with SYNC.

Appearance Package and paint, wheel choices

Also new is an Appearance Package on Limited and SEL models that includes an available two-tone roof and mirrors, 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with painted pockets, leather seats, unique door trim panels and other interior upgrades for a truly distinctive, premium look and feel.

The new Flex comes in nine exterior colors, including three new colors for the 2013 model year: Ruby Red, Deep Impact Blue and Kodiak Brown. Customers also can choose from body-color roofs, or two-tone with white, gray or black available on the Appearance Package.

Six wheel styles are available for Ford Flex as well

Ford Fiesta ST model year 2013  The new Ford Fiesta ST is Ford's fastest and most dynamic small production performance car ever, employing a precision-tuned and driver-focused powertrain and chassis to deliver the ultimate Fiesta driving experience.

Developed by Ford Team RS, the European arm of Ford Motor Company's Global Performance Vehicle group, the new Fiesta ST is equipped with a 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine to achieve 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and offer 182 PS and 240 Nm of torque. Top speed is 220 km/h.

Ford Team RS tuned the powertrain, suspension, steering and brakes for optimised driving dynamics; and introduced features only previously found in larger performance cars - including enhanced Torque Vectoring Control (eTVC) and 3-mode Electronic Stability Control (ESC), six-speed manual transmission and rear disc brakes.

Everyday practicality is underlined by fuel efficiency of 5.9 l/100 km and 138 g/km CO2 - a 20 per cent emissions reduction compared with the previous generation Ford Fiesta ST, though it produces almost 20 per cent more power than the first-generation model's 2.0-litre engine.

The new Fiesta ST features a large trapezoidal grille with a unique honeycomb construction and dramatic rear diffuser element. The refined high-contrast interior is equipped with Recaro seats, and a new Sound Symposer channels the engine note to the
cabin to ensure the distinctive engine roar is integral to the driving experience. Ford has also introduced SYNC and MyKey

"The new Fiesta ST delivers remarkable levels of performance, design and quality to offer an unsurpassed driving experience," said Juergen Gagstatter, chief programme engineer, Fiesta ST. "Ford's European customers are connoisseurs of the hot hatchback and the new Fiesta ST speaks directly to that passion for performance driving."

Electronically-optimised enhanced chassis

eTVC applies brake force to the inside front wheel of the Ford Fiesta ST when cornering to improve road holding and reduce understeer without affecting speed. New software controls the Fiesta ST's balance in response to steering inputs under acceleration and braking - and ESC offers full system intervention; wide-slip mode with limited intervention; and full ESC de-activation.

Both systems support a specially modified front steering knuckle, adapted rear twist-beam with increased roll-stiffness, unique front and rear spring and damper settings, and a 15 mm lower centre of gravity; for optimised handling and ride quality.

Electronic Power Assisted Steering offers a sharper steering ratio of 13.69:1 and a shorter steering arm for a more direct response. The Ford Fiesta ST debuts rear disc brakes on the Fiesta platform and introduces a larger tandem brake master cylinder that boosts braking performance.

"This car can put a smile on your face corner-after-corner and delivers absolute precision in power delivery and handling," said Tyrone Johnson, Ford Team RS engineering manager.

EcoBoost engine technology

The EcoBoost engine's low weight contributes towards improved handling; and brings technologies including turbocharging, high-pressure direct fuel-injection and Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing.

The unique engine and a new six-speed manual transmission calibration was refined at the Nürburgring Nordschleife over the equivalent of more than 100 laps of the 21 km circuit.

ST character inside and out

The Ford Fiesta ST's headlight design incorporates LED day-time running lamp technology and a full ST body kit; new paint options include Race Red, Molten Orange and Spirit Blue. The cabin also features carbon fibre dashboard inserts, alloy-metal pedals and gearshifter, and an ST steering wheel.

MyKey allows owners to set maximum speed and audio volume limits, and ensure safety features are not disabled, when allowing use of their car. Voice-activated in-car connectivity system Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance directly connects vehicle occupants to local emergency services operators after an accident.

Developed for the track, but practical and economical

Ford subjected the new Fiesta to 850,000 kilometres of durability testing. To ensure the new Ford Fiesta ST offers high levels of reliability even in the face of the most demanding customer usage Ford subjected the hot hatchback to a further 7,500 km of race track testing and 5,000 km of high speed testing.

This included a "torture test" at the Nardo Technical Centre proving grounds, Italy, during which the Fiesta ST was driven flat-out in temperatures in excess of 40 C.

"Many hot hatch fans will want to give the Fiesta ST the chance to shine on the track and we have made sure the Fiesta ST's engine, transmission, chassis and body can handle the extreme use that its performance invites," said Johnson
