Nissan Sentra model year 2013 From the inside
Nissan Sentra model year 2013
The all-new 2013 Nissan Sentra continues the brand's product onslaught as the third of five all-new vehicles being introduced in a 15 month period

Like the recently unveiled Nissan Altima and Pathfinder, the redesign of Nissan Sentra focuses on class above design standards inside and out, as well as efficiency in engineering The new Sentra is 150 pounds - or five percent  lighter than the outgoing model yet has slightly larger overall dimensions and more interior room The lighter and more aerodynamic new Sentra allows Nissan to use a more fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine which along with the next generation Xtronic CVT® with sub-planetary gear helps deliver a 13 percent improvement in EPA combined fuel economy

With the FE+ models Nissan Sentra achieves up to 40 mpg on the highway Other CVT-equipped models are rated at 39 mpg on the highway All CVT models achieve a best-in-class EPA rated 34 mpg combined  City and Highway

The 2013 Nissan Sentra is the most revolutionary design in the nameplate's 30-year history a worthy addition to what is without question the most innovative, highest quality, highest value sedan lineup in Nissan history said Al Castignetti vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc  With the complete redesign for 2013, Sentra is closer in look and feel to Altima than a typical compact sedan Like Altima, the new Sentra offers best-in-segment attributes such as high fuel economy and easy-to-use connectivity, that offer real customer value and convenience

The new Nissan Sentra has a strong family resemblance to the recently introduced 2013 Nissan Altima, both in exterior and interior styling cues and its  class-above style against competitive vehicles in the compact sedan segment

Modern Premium Design

Nissan Sentra's all-new design is elegant, modern and refined, reflecting a  professional character targeted at upwardly bound buyers who aspire to drive something more premium than some of the other designs in the segment. It adopts Nissan's bold new signature trapezoid-shaped grille and large wraparound headlights with LED accents  the only sedan in the compact segment to offer them as standard equipment. In the rear, LED taillights are also standard which complements the sophisticated styling

Compared to the previous design, Nissan Sentra's beltline has been lowered and a new character line has been added that runs from the front fenders along the sides, and finishes at the sculpted taillights and trunklid, giving the new Sentra a more aggressive stance and enhanced outward visibility for passengers. Other exterior features include chrome door handles and accents, available heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signals, and available sport front and rear fascias and rear spoiler.

The 2013 Sentra is built on a new platform that is lighter than the previous design, contributing to the new model's more than 150-pound weight reduction. It also helps Nissan Sentra provide one of the largest interior volumes in class, along with ample rear seat legroom and enhanced trunk capacity.

Compared with the previous generation Nissan Sentra, the 2013 model offers a 0.6-inch longer wheelbase  106.3 inches and a 2.3-inch longer overall length  182.1 inches). The front overhang is shorter and the rear overhang extended. It is slightly lower in height  0.6 inches and narrower in width (-1.2 inches) for enhanced aerodynamics, yet offers nearly identical total interior volume (111.0 cubic feet versus the previous 110.8). The coefficient of drag has been significantly reduced to 0.29 from the previous 0.34.

"Sentra has long been known as one of the roomiest sedans in class and the latest iteration is no exception. The fine-tuning of its dimensions has created not only extremely well-balanced exterior proportions but enhanced rear seat legroom and created a larger, more usable trunk space," said Castignetti.

A Premium, Class-Above Interior

Nissan Sentra's sophisticated new look continues inside with a high-quality interior design with materials not usually found in compact vehicles, including soft-touch instrument panel and driver's door armrest, available leather-appointed seating and available Maple wood-tone trim. Along with offering mid-size roominess in a compact-size exterior, the intuitive interior layout emphasizes driver control and class-leading seat comfort for all occupants. The instrument panel curves out towards the doors and features Fine Vision electroluminescent gauges that are backlit even in daylight, providing a high-quality look that is also easy to read.

Rear seat legroom of 37.4 inches is among the largest in class and immediately apparent to occupants, even with the front seats in the rear-most position. The rear seat is a standard 60/40 split folding design, offering versatile access to the 15.1 cubic feet of trunk space (2.0 cubic feet larger than the 2012 Sentra trunk).

Standard interior features include 6-way manual driver's seat, 4-way manual front passenger's seat, front and rear door pockets, front center console with padded armrest and cupholders, rear seat armrest with cupholders, air conditioning with in-cabin microfilter, tilt and telescopic steering column, power windows with driver's one-touch auto up/down with auto reverse, power door locks with auto-locking feature, two auxiliary 12-volt power outlets, remote keyless entry and remote trunk and fuel-filler door releases.

A new Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system is offered for the first time with Nissan Sentra, allowing the driver or front passengers to set their own individual temperature settings.

The standard audio system is an AM/FM/CD system with four speakers. Other available systems include a 6-speaker AM/FM/CD system with 4.3-inch color display, USB connection for iPod® and other compatible devices; and a Bose® Premium audio system with eight speakers and an amplifier that has been specially tuned to either the cloth or leather interior for best performance.

Also available is SiriusXM Satellite Radio (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately) and Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System.

"Nowhere is the new Sentra's 'class-above' style more evident than in the interior. You notice it the minute you sit in the roomy, comfortable seats and when you touch the high quality materials. And when driving you notice the extra attention paid to isolating noise, vibration and harshness from entering the cabin," said Castignetti. "And that's before you even get into the various advanced technology features that you usually don't expect in a compact sedan segment vehicle."

NissanConnect with Navigation and Other Clever Technology

Like the new Altima, the 2013 Nissan Sentra offers a major step forward in technology that helps owners stay connected. An all-new version of the Nissan Navigation system is available. NissanConnect with Navigation includes a Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant that reads incoming text messages and allows drivers to reply without taking their hands off of the steering wheel.

The system also offers Pandora® radio capability, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth® and a large 5.8-inch touch-screen display. The Navigation System includes NavTraffic and NavWeather functions (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately), along with POIs powered by Google™ and Google™ Send-to-Car functions. The Navigation's map views now features warnings for curves and speed limit information.

Other available technology ranges from the RearView Monitor and Nissan Intelligent Key® with illuminated push-button ignition switch to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with Easy Fill Tire Alert feature. If air is being added or removed from a tire, the system signals the user when the recommended tire pressure has been reached by sounding the horn.

New 1.8-liter Engine and Advanced CVT

As expected from a ground-up redesign, the new Nissan Sentra features an all-new engine and CVT transmission. Now displacing 1.8-liters, Sentra's advanced DOHC 4-cylinder engine offers a longer stroke than typical engines in its class, resulting in improved combustion speed and efficiency. The engine is equipped with a twin Continuously Variable Timing Control  CVTC system which modulates both the intake and exhaust valve opening time (similar to that used on the flagship Nissan Maxima

The engine's internal friction has been reduced, improving efficiency. The DLC creates about half the friction of previous coatings. In addition, the valve springs are shaped similar to a beehive, with a smaller diameter towards the top - reducing inertia weight, improving valvetrain efficiency and smoothing engine operation. The engine is rated at 130 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque.

The new engine is matched with a new-generation Xtronic CVT® (a 6-speed manual is available in the base Sentra S model). The new CVT features a host of enhancements  versus the previous CVT that contribute to an improvement in fuel efficiency and lower vehicle weight. It also offers a wider gear ratio of 7.3:1 through use of a sub-planetary gear and smaller pulleys resulting in high speed fuel efficiency at low rpm and responsive acceleration. Fuel economy is rated at 30 miles per gallon City 39 miles per gallon Highway and a class-leading 34 miles per gallon combined with the CVT

In the race for fuel economy bragging rights sometimes what gets lost in the mix is drivability. Nissan Sentra's new engine and advanced CVT design are perfectly matched to provide the best of both mpg and driving enjoyment  smooth quiet and efficient operation around town or highway cruising, responsive acceleration and excellent mpg and driving range said Castignetti

The new Nissan Sentra also features an independent strut front suspension with stabilizer bar torsion beam rear axle with integrated stabilizer bar power-assisted vented front disc/rear drum braking system (4-wheel disc brakes are available and vehicle-speed-sensitive electric power steering. Available wheels and tires include 16-inch steel wheels with full covers with 205/55R16 size all-season tires or 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 205/50R17 all-season tires

In addition to the Nissan Sentra S model's long list of standard features Sentra SV models add cruise control two additional speakers illuminated steering wheel audio controls vehicle security system and premium cloth seating and door trim

The Nissan Sentra SR adds a sportier appearance, starting with 17 inch forked 5-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels sport front and rear fascias, sport front grille lower body side sill extensions rear spoiler with integrated LED brake light fog lights and chrome exhaust tip finisher Inside the Sentra SR includes sport silver interior trim  premium sport cloth seats and driver's seatback pocket

The top-of-the line Nissan Sentra SL adds 17-inch split 7 spoke aluminum-alloy wheels Smart Auto headlights, fog lights, heated outside mirrors with integrated LED turn signals Nissan Intelligent Key®, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, 6-speaker audio system with 4.3-inch display and Sirius XM Satellite Radio  SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately

Additional Sentra SL equipment includes leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever knob Maple wood-tone trim, Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control  ATC  Tire Pressure Monitoring System  TPMS with Easy Fill Tire Alert and more

A Range of Well-Equipped Models

The 2013 Nissan Sentra is offered in a selection of well-equipped S, FE+ S, SV, FE+ SV, SR and SL trim levels. All models come with standard Xtronic CVT®, except the base Sentra S that is available with a choice of 6-speed manual or CVT

The NissanConnect with Navigation system, leather-appointed seats, heated front seats, rear disc brakes, power sliding glass moonroof and RearView Monitor are among the additional features available with the various equipment packages

From front LED accents to rear LED taillights and every inch in between, the all-new 2013 Sentra serves notice to compact sedan buyers that the Nissan Sentra is stepping up in style and stepping up in desirability said Castignetti.  In what has become one of the most competitive segments in the industry Sentra is ready to take on all comers

Nissan Almera model years 2013

From the inside Nissan Almera model years 2013
Nissan Almera model years 2013
The all new Nissan Almera launched at the 2012 Moscow International Autosalon has been designed specifically to meet the unique demands of the Russian market

It combines exceptional roominess and genuine refinement with a robust chassis and proven drivetrain while the design mixes contemporary Nissan styling cues with classic features to create a modern yet timeless look

In addition to its size features and its Japanese badge the new Nissan Almera will also be a highly affordable rational and aspirational purchase matched by an unequalled ownership experience

The car will be built on a newly installed line in Togliatti operating in full compliance with global production standards

We have ambitious expansion plans in Russia and the new Almera will play a central role in that growth said François Goupil de Bouille Managing Director Nissan Russia

To create the car we have taken the best engineers from Japan Europe and Russia and immersed them in the specific demands of the region The new Nissan Almera is a Russian car through and through but one which benefits from the engineering and design expertise developed by Nissan globally It is perfectly in tune with the needs and expectations of Russian consumers he added

Prices  which will be announced nearer to its on sale date in early 2013  will be highly competitive  When the prices are revealed everyone will see what an exceptional offering this is said François Goupil de Bouille New Almera offers the interior space expected by a D segment car but at a B segment price

The new Nissan Almera in detail

Nissan Almera is a classic four door five seat saloon with a timeless body design showing clear Nissan DNA The long wheelbase helps to create a spacious cabin while the roomy luggage area is cleverly disguised by the sweep of the roofline and rear window which blends into the trunk lid

At the front, Nissan's familiar wide four bar grille is chromed  as are the door handles  to underline the quality image But showing the attention to detail that has helped to create the new Almera the chrome incorporates anti-corrosion technology which was specially developed by Nissan

It has a unique trivalent chrome compound which withstands attack from the chemicals used to de ice the roads in Russia to maintain the premium chrome look

Biggest interior in the class

Four wide opening doors allow easy access to the interior which is notably larger than class rivals. In fact the rear compartment knee room is actually more generous than that offered in some premium D segment cars and is easily capable of carrying three adults in comfort As well as providing more interior space than rivals at 500 litres Nissan Almera's luggage trunk is among the largest in its class

The luggage area itself is another example of the care that has gone into the car's design. A wide opening lid reveals a deep and practical load space free from obstructions  the trunk lid hinges for example are hidden while the tool roll and jack are also stored away so as not to interfere with the load space

A handle mounted on inside the lid means the trunk can be closed without the need to touch the invariably dirty exterior of the car And under the boot floor there's ample space for the full sized spare wheel

Nissan Almera is 4,656mm from bumper to bumper and has the longest wheelbase in the class a full 2,700mm

Proven robust chassis

Integral to Nissan Almera's capability to withstand the local conditions is its chassis Almera's enhanced chassis features a strong strut-type front suspension allied to a rear beam axle

A front anti roll bar improves handling performance while the bar the rear beam axle and the coil springs have all been stiffened to provide a highly comfortable ride allied to an inherent strength to ensure the car can withstand the conditions

During test development engineers from Nissan Technical Centre Europe  NTCE have driven hundreds of thousands of kilometres over varied roads in the region to fine tune the springs and dampers to the conditions

At the same time noise reduction programmes have resulted in the use of thicker steel for the platform to reduce stone chipping and splash noise, while the upper body structure has been strengthened and stiffened giving both refinement and durability improvements

The result is a car that provides class leading comfort and handling at the same time as being capable of withstanding severe winter conditions and meeting the needs and requirements of the Russian customers

Underbody protection

Further proof of Nissan Almera's durability can be found under the car Offering extra protection against poor road surfaces the bottom of the engine bay is covered by a 2mm thick steel plate while potentially vulnerable brake and fuel pipes running under the car are also covered by a steel plate

With a generous ground clearance of 160mm  reducing to 145mm only at the steel plate protecting the engine  Nissan Almera is once again one of the best in class

Also found under the car is a small but highly effective aero deflector which improves the car's aerodynamics for better high speed stability

Engine/transmission

Power comes from another tried and trusted source Nissan's proven 1.6-litre 16 valve petrol engine developing 75kW  102hp and 145 Nm of torque for competitive performance and economy Nissan Almera will be available with either a five speed manual or four speed automatic transmission

Winter performance is enhanced by a powerful heating and ventilation system  heated seats and door mirrors are available depending on the model grade while cold start performance has been optimised The wipers have been engineered to clear as much of the large windscreen as possible and are aided by a large 5 litre washer tank that needs less frequent refilling though when it does it is easily accessible in the engine bay.

Three grades

Following established Nissan practice Almera will be available in three grades Welcome  Comfort and top of the range Tekna

Standard equipment on Comfort models expected to be the biggest selling grade includes remote central door locking heated power door mirrors fog lamps a trip computer and height adjustment for the driver's seat

There are chromed accents to the air vents while the trim material is patterned Large door mirrors are finished in body colour and the door handles and trunk finisher are chromed while the front seats are heated to provide extra comfort in winter months Air conditioning and alloy wheels are available as options

Top Tekna models have air conditioning as standard, along with power windows at the rear, four speakers a leather wrapped steering wheel and 15-inch alloy wheels The audio system is a fully integrated double din AM/FM tuner with single disc CD player and Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones An Aux  in jack socket to connect a MP3 player is also standard

The sophisticated Nissan Connect communications system is available as an option on Tekna models making Nissan Almera the only car in its class available with a fully integrated navigation system

Nissan Connect has a five-inch full colour touch screen with 2D/3D mapping and voice guidance Updates can be downloaded from the Internet and uploaded to the system via USB  The audio system includes a single disc CD player an AM/FM tuner an Aux in jack and Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones and audio streaming

All grades have active and passive safety features including anti lock brakes plus driver and front passenger airbags as standard

The colour palette has seven exterior body colours  a solid white and six metallic shades.

The Almera customer

The typical Nissan Almera buyer will be a family man living in the regional cities. He is making his way up in society and at work and aspires to owning a car with a foreign badge yet retains a rational outlook on life. Nissan Almera will be his introduction to the Nissan brand and the Nissan ownership experience and will be used for commuting to work during the week and for extended family dacha trips at the weekend

He will appreciate its premium styling and undeniable roominess at the same time as being reassured by its ability to cope with local conditions

The new Nissan Almera is an important car for Nissan and an important car for Russia. It brings a new dynamic to the vital mainstream market by offering an upscale feel and D-segment spaciousness but at a B-segment price. And by generating jobs on the production line and in the supplier chain Nissan is investing in the country's future

We have gone to great lengths to create a car that will not only appeal to the increasingly more discerning Russian consumer in terms of looks equipment and quality but one that will also cope with the unique demands of the market, the weather and the local road conditions said François Goupil de Bouille

Almera is designed to meet new standards and new ambitions of consumers It's unexpectedly spacious exceptionally comfortable and built to last he added

Nissan Pathfinder model year 2013

Nissan Pathfinder model year 2013 From the inside
Nissan Pathfinder model year 2013
Nissan unleashed the all-new 2013 Pathfinder SUV, a complete makeover featuring a sleek, aerodynamically styled exterior, a premium interior, class-exclusive user-friendly technology and a new unibody platform and advanced drivetrain that helps it achieve best-in-class fuel economy while maintaining class-lead towing and off-pavement capabilities.

The all-new vehicle design sheds 500 pounds of mass compared to the outgoing model yet maintains the Nissan Pathfinder's SUV-ruggedness while delivering up to 26 miles per gallon on the highway. With its blend of capability, including class-leading standard towing capacity of 5000 pounds, and modern amenities, such as a class-exclusive Around View™ Monitor, the 2013 Pathfinder is the next-generation SUV.

Unveiling our next-generation Nissan Pathfinder is a major follow-up to the introduction of the all-new Altima sedan," said Al Castignetti vice president and general manager Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.  With its bold new design, best-in-class fuel economy and family adventure capabilities, our dealers can't wait to share this new model with customers in their showrooms

The 2013 Pathfinder's fuel economy has improved more than 30 percent over that of the 2012 Pathfinder. Both the FWD and 4WD 2013 Nissan Pathfinder models lead their segments in fuel economy across the board.

City, highway and combined average fuel economy numbers are 20  City 26  Highway and 22 (Combined) mpg for the FWD version and 19  City 25  Highway and 21 (Combined) mpg for the 4WD version. This significant increase over both the outgoing model's fuel economy as well as that of the competition was achieved primarily through a new, aerodynamic vehicle design, 500 pounds of weight reduction, reduced engine friction and the application of a class-exclusive next generation Xtronic CVT

Also playing a significant role in the Nissan Pathfinder's excellent fuel economy is the fact that it is now one of the lightest vehicles in its segment, with the FWD model tipping the scales at a mere 4149 pounds. Even the 4WD Nissan Pathfinder weighs only 4290 pounds.

Nissan teased the new Pathfinder earlier in the year, showing a concept exterior design model in January 2012. Now we get the first official look at the production model, which goes on sale nationwide fall 2012.

New Chassis Meets Consumer Shift

Truck-based SUV sales peaked in the mid-2000s and have declined steadily as consumer demands shifted to more refined, fuel efficient crossover SUVs. The 2013 Pathfinder is built with unibody construction, vastly reducing its weight by eliminating the fuel-penalizing mass of a traditional SUV's truck-based frame. In addition to making the Nissan Pathfinder a lighter vehicle, the new unibody chassis design increases Nissan Pathfinder's structural rigidity over the previous model. This improves ride and handling, while reducing overall noise, vibration and harshness, delivering an outstanding mix of responsiveness, refinement and ride comfort. The Pathfinder's rigid platform is also key to maintaining the trailer-towing capability expected from an SUV - the vehicle has a standard towing capacity of 5000 pounds, which is the best standard towing capacity in the segment.

"It's no secret that the industry has shifted as gas prices have increased," says Al Castignetti. "But while traditional SUV customers are looking for improved fuel economy, they still demand a vehicle that can do all the things they need, like carrying seven people, towing, and providing the surefootedness in all conditions of a four-wheel drive."

Weight reduction is one of the key components in Nissan's drive to improving vehicle performance across the board. The just-introduced all-new Nissan Altima also is the lightest vehicle in its class.

Bold Design

Nissan Pathfinder's design conveys modernity while paying homage to the three generations of Pathfinders before it. The new unibody platform provided the designers an opportunity to create a more aerodynamic exterior without compromising headroom or cargo capacity. In fact, the new Nissan Pathfinder has more interior space than the previous model thanks to more efficient packaging.

Moving upscale in appearance, the new exterior styling presents a smart fusion of signature Nissan styling cues and dynamic strength. The look is adventure-ready with wheel-oriented muscular fenders and a strong, stable stance.

The upper body features an open cabin with a low beltline and thin A- and D-pillars, which flow smoothly into the rugged, durable-looking lower body. Nissan Pathfinder's design incorporates front and rear spoilers, rear tire deflectors and rear suspension fairings to help achieve what is expected to be among the best aerodynamic performances in the segment. Other exterior details include a wide chrome grille and large aerodynamic headlights, recessed front windshield wipers, chrome door handles and large rear combination lights.

A panoramic dual-panel moonroof, with sliding opening front panel and fixed rear glass panel which extends over the 2nd and 3rd rows, combines with the large windows to create an open, airy interior environment.

"With its new aerodynamic shape, the styling is a major step forward in the evolution of the SUV - retaining its people and cargo hauling utility without looking quite so utilitarian," said Castignetti. "It's fitting that a vehicle that tackles adventures in a whole new way also now looks the part."

Interior

Nissan Pathfinder's all-new interior design features versatile and comfortable seating as well as premium materials and advanced technology. The vehicle seats seven passengers comfortably, and is best-in-class in terms of front headroom, front leg room and overall passenger volume. Additionally, Pathfinder is now the only vehicle in the segment with a 3rd row seat recline.

The new Advanced Drive-Assist™ Display, located in the center of the instrument display between the tachometer and speedometer, features a 4-inch color display that is customizable, easy-to-use and integrates key information right in front of the driver. A separate touch-screen monitor, mounted in the middle of the instrument panel, provides intuitive interaction and control of the available navigation system and other vehicle systems and settings.

Technology and Innovation

The all-new Nissan Pathfinder also features EZ Flex Seating System™ with LATCH AND GLIDE™. LATCH AND GLIDE™ is an industry first 2nd row tip-up seat for use with a child safety seat, which also provides easy access to the 3rd row while keeping the child seat securely fastened. The 2nd row also features a 60/40 split-fold seating with a segment best 5.5 inches of seat travel. Class-exclusive features include Easy Fill Tire Alert and the segment-first availability of an Around View™ Monitor.

Other available amenities include leather-appointed seating, heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, programmable Nissan Intelligent Key®, Nissan Navigation System, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, 13-speaker Bose® Premium Audio system, Satellite Radio (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately), Dual-Zone Climate Control, RearView Monitor, remote engine start and tri-zone entertainment system.

New Powertrain

All 2013 Pathfinders come equipped with an advanced 260-horsepower 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine matched with a next-generation Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission). It is also the only vehicle in class with selectable 2WD, Auto or 4WD modes for the available intuitive ALL-MODE 4x4-i system. The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder will be offered in 4x4 and 4x2 drive configurations and in four models - S, SV, SL and Platinum.

Manufacturing

Pathfinder is assembled at Nissan's Smyrna assembly plant in Smyrna, Tennessee. The 3.5-liter V-6 engine is assembled at the company's Decherd, Tennessee powertrain plant

Nissan Juke Nismo model year 2013 From the inside

Nissan Juke Nismo model year 2013 The wait is over Nismo has arrived in Europe with the launch of the first in a new range of road cars the Nissan Juke Nismo

With track-derived design, enhanced performance and engaging handling, Nismo's unique motorsport DNA adds a new dimension to the pioneering compact crossover's list of attributes

Power comes from a modified version of Nissan's acclaimed 1.6-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine. You only need to look to the success of the pioneering Nissan DeltaWing to see the potential of this advanced and efficient engine

Add a bespoke aerodynamics package and revised chassis design and you have a driving experience which takes Juke thrills to the next level. Two models  front wheel-drive with a six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive with CVT and 7-speed manual mode - are available, with every Nissan Juke Nismo benefitting from a motorsport-inspired interior packed with innovative technology.

Andy Palmer, Nissan's Executive Vice President, Global Product Planning  commented: "Nismo is about providing innovation and excitement for everyone, and there's no better place to start than with the Juke, our critically acclaimed and highly successful compact crossover. Oozing an attitude that has really struck a chord with buyers across Europe, it was the obvious choice for the Nismo team to showcase its design, engineering and personalisation expertise

After initially appearing as a concept at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan Juke Nismo made its global debut in production form at the Le Mans 24-Hour Race in June 2012. It was seen again at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September and is on sale now.

The Nissan Juke Nismo is the product of global expertise. Its design and engineering was led by Nissan and Nismo in Japan in partnership with Nissan Design Europe (NDE) in London, UK, and Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE), in Cranfield, UK. Like other Juke models, the Juke Nismo will be built at Nissan's UK manufacturing facility in Sunderland.

Exterior design: motorsport aerodynamics for the road

Far from being purely cosmetic, every modification to the Juke's body has been carried out to enhance a specific element of its aerodynamics. All changes have been influenced by Nismo's motorsport expertise, in particular using lessons learned from the styling and engineering of the Nissan GT-R race car which competes in the GT500 class of the Super GT in Japan.

Compared to the standard Nissan Juke, the most obvious change is to the front, which now features a lower and more aggressive design. The familiar five-circle shape of the base section has been swapped for a horizontal mesh grille. That also means the integrated fog lights have been replaced by thin-strip LED daytime running lights, positioned at the top edge of new small vents to the side of the larger grille.

On 2WD versions these are blanked, but on 4WD models the left-hand side vent allows air into the engine bay to cool the oil pump, and the one on the right is styled to match.

The prominent upper edge of the large lower grille features a red pinstripe, which drops dramatically to curve round the smaller vents and continues all the way to the front wheel arches. This distinctive Nismo cue gives the nose a visual width and presence while emphasising the Nissan Juke Nismo's athletic stance on the road. Above, the three-sided surround to the Nissan badge in the centre of the upper grille - known as the V-strut - is now finished in a darker shade. To the right is a Nismo badge with a red O, stamping Nismo's distinctive motorsport heritage on the Juke for first time.

The red pinstripe continues on the flanks of the car at the base of the doors. The sculpted side skirts have been reworked to enhance aerodynamic performance, getting air flow round the rear wheels and away from the car as quickly and efficiently as possible. To increase the Nissan Juke Nismo's visual bulk, the front wings are also more muscular and are now finished entirely in the body colour to give a truly premium feel. The door mirrors have been coloured red to give a clear and quick indication to the casual observer that this is not a standard Nissan Juke. The B-pillar is now finished in gloss 'piano black', also promoting a more upmarket and sporty image.

At the rear, the bumper is deeper than before and the red pinstripe is also visible on the black sill. Above, a stylish tailgate spoiler is painted in the body colour and houses the high-level brake light. In common with all exterior modifications, this is designed to increase front and rear downforce, so enhancing the Nissan Juke Nismo's dynamic performance and efficiency.

Equally, the stunning new 18-inch light-alloy wheels feature wider tyres to give drivers additional traction during cornering and further boost the car's on-road presence. One inch larger than on the standard Juke, the diamond-cut alloys feature a 10 twin-spoke design and are finished in dark anthracite. Both the 2WD and 4WD versions of the car ride on Continental ContiSport Contact5 225/45/R18 tyres.

The Nissan Juke Nismo is available in three stunning exterior shades - Silver Grey, Pearl White and Metallic Black. All come with red door mirrors and the matching pinstripe around base of car.

However, with personalisation a key part of the Nismo brand DNA, owners can add further options to the specification of their vehicle. Decals are available, featuring a wide roof stripe which stretches from midway down the bonnet over to the rear spoiler. Side stickers, which emphasise the car's powerful waistline from the front doors to the dramatic rear haunches, are also offered as an option. The decals are available in the same three colours as the overall car, allowing owners to select a colour that will contrast with their vehicle's exterior finish

Interior design sporty styling focused on the driver

Nismo's core belief is that everything should be focused on the driver. It's about enhancing their experience, pure and simple. So the Nissan Juke Nismo's seats, instrumentation, steering wheel, gear knob, pedals and door trims have all been redesigned to boost driver enjoyment by creating a more performance-oriented environment.

The front seats have been redesigned to offer additional lateral support. Trimmed in suede, they sport vibrant red stitching - picking up the detail introduced by the red bodywork pinstripe. Red is also used as a background to the tachometer and also appears on the steering wheel, which is finished in alcantara and leather. The tactile wheel now includes a marker to indicate 'top dead centre', another feature derived directly from motorsport.

Darkening elements of the cabin just outside of the driver's eye line is another Nismo styling cue and allows the driver to focus entirely on the elements which are most important - the dials, switchgear and controls. Consequently the headlining of the Nissan Juke Nismo is black, and there is a gloss 'piano black' finish around the ventilation and audio controls. There is also new smoked grey trim around the gear selector. In the footwell the standard black rubber pedals have been upgraded to a metallic finish, and there is a Nismo badge visible on the footstop. The same branding has been precision-stitched into the seat squabs.

Powertrain and engineering: revised for improved dynamics

Nismo was born on the racetrack in 1984 through a spirit of innovation and determination which is still at the heart of the performance brand today. It's this DNA which has been injected into the Juke to create the first Nismo road car for Europe.

Under the bonnet of the Nissan Juke Nismo is a reworked version of Nissan's advanced four-cylinder 1.6-litre Direct Injection Gasoline Turbocharged (DIG-T) petrol engine. Cementing the link to Nismo's track activity, the engine features the same technologies as the unit installed in Nissan's revolutionary and experimental DeltaWing race car.

Both power and torque have been increased in comparison to the standard DIG-T variant, but boosts in output don't come at the expense of emissions and efficiency. Power rises from 140kw  190PS to 147kw  200PS while torque is boosted from 240Nm to 250Nm.

A version of the vJuke Nismo offering greater performance is currently under development, ready to deliver an even more focussed driving experience with a unique suspension set-up and power increase.

Improved performance is only one element of Nissan Juke Nismo's dynamic appeal. The suspension settings have been completely revised, leading to greater traction and improved body response and roll control, while the car's steering has been reworked for sportier and more direct handling. Thanks to increased resistance at the wheel, more feedback is evident at medium and high speeds

The Nissan Juke Nismo is 4,165mm long, 30mm more than the standard car At 1,770mm, it's 5mm wider than its sibling while the height and wheelbase remain unchanged, at 1,565mm and 2,530mm respectively.

Despite all of the modifications, weight gains are negligible The 2WD car weighs 1,295kg while the 4WD model is 1,441kg - both figures are almost identical to the equivalent version of the standard Juke.

Performance excitement without compromising efficiency

The 2WD six-speed manual Nissan Juke Nismo gets from 0-100km/h  0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 215km/h  134mph Fuel economy is 6.9 l/100km (40.9mpg) on the Combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 159g/km - identical to the standard, less powerful Juke DIG-T.

The 4WD model with its CVT accelerates from 0-100km/h  0-62mph in 8.2 seconds and has a top speed of 200km/h (125mph). Fuel economy is 7.4 l/100km (38.1mpg) on the Combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 169g/km.

Torque vectoring supercar technology in the Juke

In common with standard versions of the Juke 4WD the all-wheel-drive Nismo variant benefits from Nissan's innovative Torque Vectoring System (TVS). It's a technology that has, until now, only been found on top-of-the-range premium vehicles and its arrival in the Juke was a first for compact car segments.

The 4WD chassis employs a multi-link rear suspension and the latest version of Nissan's ALL-MODE 4x4-i electronic technology. Fitted as standard, the TVS is designed to limit understeer by increasing torque to the outside rear wheel, helping the car follow its intended course. TVS also enhances agility and means the Nissan Juke Nismo provides exceptional ride comfort and handling in spite of its higher ground clearance when compared to other compact cars.

As well splitting torque front to rear  up to a maximum of 50:50  the TVS means it can also be shifted from side-to-side across the rear axle. Information collected by various sources  measuring wheel speed, steering angle, yaw rate and lateral G-force is interpreted to anticipate the driver's intention.

TVS actions are relayed to the driver via a real-time graphic display on the instrument panel depicting the torque distribution under all conditions.

Nissan Connect with enhanced functionality

The Nissan Juke Nismo is among the first Nissans to feature an enhanced version of the Nissan Connect infotainment system. Already an enormously successful system, Connect continues to offer an exceptional package of navigation and connectivity in one standard fit, integrated package.

Benefitting from a larger 5.8-inch touch-screen display, the latest system includes Google 'Send to Car' navigation software allowing routes planned at home to be transferred directly to the car. Additional connected services include Google Points of Interest (POI), nearest fuel prices, plus flight and weather information. Enhanced satellite navigation functionality also includes exit view and lane guidance, in addition to the full Bluetooth connectivity and reversing camera systems that Connect users have come to rely on.

NDCS Nissan Dynamic Control System  NDCS

The Nissan Juke Nismo offers further control through Nissan Dynamic Control System  NDCS This advanced central command system allows the driver to alter the car's dynamic settings as well as make changes to everyday functions including climate control.

The centrally mounted digital screen changes display, colour and functions depending on the mode selected by the driver. Settings alter throttle maps, steering effort and CVT shift schedules on the 4WD Nissan Juke Nismo.

In the D-Mode Sport setting, the throttle map is retuned to deliver higher engine revs and sharper responses, while in the Eco setting, engine revs are reduced for more gentle progress. In the M-CVT version of the DIG-T engine Juke, the Sport setting even introduces a 'rhythmic' auto up shift that simulates manual changes at the red-line.

Steering effort in Sport is firmer and more responsive, while in Normal it's lighter and more linear. In the Eco setting, the quantity of cold air circulating in the cabin is optimised reducing the load on the climate control and lowering the system's power consumption

Real time trip information can also be displayed giving average speed, fuel economy, journey times and engine torque and turbo boost as well as a daily fuel consumption history The system even incorporates a G-Force indicator

Nissan Altima Sedan model year 2013 From the inside
Nissan Altima Sedan model year 2013 Two decades after the original Nissan Altima revolutionized the traditional mid-size sedan segment in North America, Nissan's best-selling vehicle is about to shake up the category all over again. After making its world debut at the 2012 New York International Auto Show, the 2013 Nissan Altima is once again poised to become the new benchmark in the hotly contested segment when it goes on sale at Nissan retailers nationwide summer 2012

The 2013 Altima offers numerous segment defining attributes that enhance the ownership experience and provide real customer value, including

Targeted best-in-segment 38 mpg highway fuel economy  2.5-liter engine)
Premium exterior styling with a powerful presence and improved aerodynamics
Upscale interior rivaling premium luxury sedans, including NASA-inspired "zero-gravity seats, an Advanced Drive-Assist Display and BOSE Premium Audio System
An outstanding balance of ride comfort, stability and fun-to-drive demeanor, including projected best-level acceleration
Standard Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System and Streaming Audio via Bluetooth

Next-generation Safety Shield Technologies, including Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Moving Object Detection (MOD) systems
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with Easy Fill Tire Alert

"In a segment as critical as this, with longtime nameplates and new challengers fighting for every sale, it's not enough to just target the competition. You have to think outside  and far above  the segment said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc. "We created the new Altima to set a clearly recognized benchmark for many years to come

Most Innovative Nissan Altima Ever

The 2013 Altima is one of five all-new Nissan models set for introduction in the next 15 months and, as the second best-selling car in the United States in 2011, much is riding on the new fifth generation Nissan Altima.

The safe thing to do would be to follow other automakers' paths, conservatively evolving the Altima so as not to upset the existing owner base. But that would not be in keeping with Nissan's 'Innovation for All' philosophy explained Carolin. "We took our most successful model and changed nearly everything - the look, the feel, the driving experience and, of course the technology down to even the headlights and windshield wipers

The result is a vehicle that builds on the strong fundamental reputation, earned over four generations and two decades, for quality and reliability and adds new levels of innovation, fuel-efficiency, dynamic performance and premium style.

"Against a fragmented competitive set, the new Nissan Altima is hands-down the most engaging, purposeful and energetic vehicle in class," said Carolin. "If you've liked the previous Altima, you'll love this one even more. And if you've never driven an Altima before get ready to have your notion of a mid-size sedan redefined

A Premium Presence

Among the new Altima's many new features, perhaps the one that stands out most is its  class above appeal, which is apparent at first look and first touch of both the exterior and interior executions.

Mid-size sedan buyers are traditionally motivated first and foremost by the rational aspects of the purchase decision - excellent value, reliability and comfort, which Nissan Altima shares with a number of other nameplates. But Altima buyers have never been satisfied with owning just another boring mid-size sedan," said Carolin.  The new Altima meets all of the rational purchase reasons, but delivers them in a way that is also emotionally rewarding. And it does so through both its dynamic appearance and dynamic driving performance

The 2013 Altima's all-new exterior design starts with its wide, aggressive stance and dramatic front end styling. Though retaining the same wheelbase as the previous generation Nissan Altima, it has a wider front and rear track (+1.4 inches) and deeper fenders  +0.8 inches each side which combine with a crisp new grille design, seamless bumper and projector-type headlights to create a bold, sophisticated appearance.

Nissan Altima's new "premium proportions" continue with the longer sloping rear roofline and raised trunk that combine to create a more fluid silhouette. The A-pillar angle is now slightly more sloped, and the drip rail has been lowered and the waistline raised. In addition, the deep-stamped trunk has been raised and expanded. The new body design is capped by large taillights (with LED taillights standard on SL models) that flow from the rear into the bodysides. Chrome trim and door handles accent the available palette of eight rich exterior colors. Attention to aerodynamic fine-tuning gives the new Altima a lower coefficient of drag.

"The new Altima represents an astonishing transformation - fresh but still pure Altima, aggressive and premium at the same time. The new look is fit and athletic, just the way Altima drives," added Carolin. "And inside, the interior is nothing short of a revolution - with one of the most dynamic, involving and complete makeover Nissan interior designs ever."

The new Nissan Altima's interior defies mid-size sedan convention, rivaling upscale luxury sedans in ambience and sophistication. Like the exterior, there is a premium look and feel - from the driver's side cockpit to the front passenger and rear seating areas - with extensive use of upscale, soft-touch materials and craftsman-like attention to detail.

"The new Altima's interior offers just the right balance of mature sophistication with a highly dynamic and emotional edge. It's refined, not gimmicky, with features that you'd expect to find on a much more expensive vehicle," said Carolin

Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid model year 2014 From the inside
With the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is doubling the driving fun to be had from the new 911 Carrera by putting a Cabriolet alongside the Coupé. The debut of the new generation of the sports car classic is being followed only a few months later by the open-top models of the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S in the new 911 design.

What the Coupé began with the new aluminium-steel body, the Cabriolet continues with the all-new, unique hood: As a result, the typical 911 roof line is initially retained in its entirety. Even when closed up, the Cabriolet cuts a fine figure. Intelligent lightweight design, even including the use of magnesium in the hood, ensures less weight and more sportiness, lower fuel consumption and greater comfort. With the open-top 911s as well, Porsche has managed to reverse the weight spiral and make the new Cabrio models significantly lighter than its predecessors.

Each of the two new Cabriolets has the same engine as its Carrera Coupé equivalent. The rear of the 911 Carrera Cabrio houses a 3.4-litre flat engine generating 350 hp (257 kW) of power driving the rear wheels through a seven-gear manual transmission. The open-top Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet comes with a 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine developing 400 hp (294 kW) and also a seven-gear manual transmission featured as standard. That means that the open-top 911s as well are distancing themselves even further from the competition in terms of efficiency; both models consume less than ten litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (NEDC). The Cabriolets as well have the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an optional extra, delivering even lower fuel consumption and shorter acceleration times.

Technical Specification

    Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet: 3.4-litre boxer engine with 350 hp (257 kW); rear-wheel drive, seven-speed manual transmission, optional seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK); acceleration 0 - 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, with PDK in 4.8 seconds (4.6 seconds with Sport Chrono Package); top speed 286 km/h, with PDK 284 km/h; fuel consumption (NEDC) 9.2 l/100 km, CO2 217 g/km; with PDK 8.4 l/100 km CO2 198 g/km.
    Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet: 3.8-litre boxer engine with 400 hp (294 kW); rear-wheel drive, seven-speed manual transmission, optional seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK); acceleration 0 - 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, with PDK in 4.5 seconds (4.3 seconds with Sport Chrono Package); top speed 301 km/h, with PDK 299 km/h; fuel consumption (NEDC) 9.7 l/100 km, CO2 229 g/km; with PDK 8.9 l/100 km CO2 210 g/km

Nissan Leaf model year 2014

From the inside Nissan Leaf model year 2014
The silhouette of the world's most popular pure electric vehicle hasn't changed, but as production starts in Europe the multi-award winning Nissan LEAF has undergone a number of significant engineering enhancements.

New Nissan LEAF is more agile than before thanks to a comprehensive raft of chassis changes while it will go further on a single charge. The NEDC range has increased from 175 kms to 199 kms thanks to a series of engineering improvements.

And a new optionally available on-board fast charger halves the time needed for a complete battery recharge.

Some of the changes have been made to improve its efficiency, some to enhance its practicality, some to enrich the ownership experience... but together they make an even more compelling case for electric vehicle ownership.

"The comprehensive changes we have made to this pioneering car reinforce its unique character: unexpected, smart, accessible and progressive. We have listened to our customers and we have been working on making the European-produced version of our multi-award winning car better for their particular needs" said Paul Willcox, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Nissan Europe.

Motor and battery

The biggest single change made to New Nissan LEAF is to the powertrain - through changes that result in greater range. In the original car the battery charger and inverter was housed in the luggage area of the car behind the rear seats. Although comparatively compact, the assembly ran the full width of the trunk. As well as stealing some luggage space it meant a completely flat load floor was impossible to achieve.

The charger and inverter are now in the front of the car and integral with the electric motor itself which not only increases luggage space by 40 litres - about the size of a piece of airline 'carry-on' luggage - but also permits a flatter floor than previously when the rear seats are folded.

Although the high response AC synchronous motor develops 80kW as before, it features a number of new elements making it even more environmentally friendly and efficient. The new motor has had its intertia reduced by 5%, improving the overall efficiency of the unit.

Although the power 'stack' is now taller thanks to the inclusion of the charger and inverter with the motor, clever packaging has meant the bonnet line hasn't been changed nor has weight distribution been altered.

As before, the motor is powered by a Nissan-designed 48-module compact lithium-ion battery mounted in a single pack under the cabin area to keep the car's centre of gravity as low as possible. The battery pack is housed in a strong metal case giving extra protection in a side impact and is now assembled alongside Nissan LEAF in a new facility at Nissan's European production base in the UK.

Performance against the clock hasn changed slightly with a top speed of 144 km/h (down by 1 km/h) and 0-100 km/h taking 11.5 sec (0.4 seconds quicker than before and improvements to the car's aerodynamics, a weight loss programme and other technical changes mean the official NEDC range has risen from 175 km to 199 km.

Greater practicality is also promised by the option of an on board 6.6kW charger which allows the use of 32 amp public or home chargers.

A 32 amp post will recharge a depleted battery in half the time of a typical domestic 16 amp EV socket - four hours instead of eight - but more importantly it can give a meaningful boost to a partially used battery even during a short stopover.

With 600 CHAdeMO standard quick chargers now installed across Europe, even quicker charging is available for EV drivers. A quick charger delivers 50 kW of high voltage direct current straight to the battery mean even quicker charging - it takes just 15 minutes to boost a battery from 30 to 80 per cent capacity.

Following feedback from existing Nissan LEAF owners, the car's on-board charging point has also been modified. The charger lid can now be opened remotely via the key fob or via an electric, rather than mechanical switch, in the cabin, and there's a small LED lamp within the assembly to help identify the sockets at night or in an underground car park.

Security is further enhanced by an electro-mechanical lock which fixes the cable into the socket when the battery is being charged preventing interference by third parties. On the Acenta and Tekna grades, the car can automatically notify the owner if charging is unexpectedly interrupted.

A revised warranty plan for the batteries covers against defects in materials and workmanship for five years or 100,000 kms and they are covered by a new 'State of Health' clause, which covers against excessive capacity loss for added peace of mind.

Chassis and other technical enhancements

Every Nissan LEAF built at Sunderland for the European market has a chassis package tuned by engineers at Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) in Cranfield in the UK.

The changes have been made to tailor LEAF to Europe's higher average speeds and more demanding roads. The result is a car that's more engaging to drive and yet is just as comfortable over poor road surfaces.

Damper settings, steering weight and brake performance have all been optimised for Europe. The revised dampers reduce float and help provide a more dynamic drive without adversely affecting ride comfort while to give greater feel and weight at speed the electric power steering system has been recalibrated. All of the work takes advantage of the LEAF's bespoke EV packaging, which places the battery pack and therefore the centre of gravity very low in the chassis.

The brakes are now more progressive in use and the regenerative aspect improved for better harvesting of braking energy. The system efficiency has been improved by 6 per cent to 94 per cent and the minimum speed at which energy is recovered reduced to 3 km/h from 7 km/h.

There have also been changes made to the Eco driving mode with a new 'B' setting on the transmission. B-mode increases regenerative braking during deceleration while a separate 'Eco' button on the steering wheel alters the throttle mapping to discourage harsh acceleration and thus extend the driving range. On the original LEAF the two systems worked together with increased regeneration only available in 'Eco' mode, but can now be operated independently of one another allowing drivers to benefit from greater energy harvesting under braking without having to forgo access to instant acceleration.

A new heat pump has been added to a more efficient heating and ventilation system and reduces electrical consumption when the air conditioning is in use. Air source heat pumps have been used in cutting-edge sustainable houses across Europe, but have rarely been seen in an automotive context. The heat pump works by harvesting heat energy that is present in even cold air and distributing it to the cabin. This new system improves the real world driving range, by cutting heater energy consumption by up to 70 per cent.

Customers also requested the ability to fully switch off the heating or air conditioning system for maximum energy efficiency. To achieve this a switch marked "Heat" has been added which when switched off, allows the fan to work independently of heating or cooling.

Other changes boosting the car's range are more efficient battery and energy management and a reduction in internal friction. Weight savings also mean New LEAF is lighter than before. Models with equipment levels that match the original are around 30kgs lighter, while the new entry level version is as much as 50kgs lighter. The average weight saving is 32kgs. This has been achieved by redesigning that battery casing and the integration of electrical components, which has reduced the length and number of heavy, high voltage interconnecting wires.

With all of the changes that have brought improvements to the New LEAF's range, customers also wanted to change the way that remaining battery energy was displayed. Instead of just the bars system, like that of a conventional fuel gauge, the New LEAF can also display a percentage of battery remaining, much like a modern smartphone.

New Nissan LEAF is built on a bespoke EV platform with a 2700 mm wheelbase. It is 4445 mm long, 1770 mm wide and 1550 mm tall. Its distinctive shape is highly aerodynamic: subtle changes to the grille - virtually the only visual change between original and New LEAF - and a new 17-inch wheel design have reduced the Cd figure to a best of just 0.28.

As before the front of the car is framed by the slim, almost vertical, headlights, with LED lighting on top models. The lights also direct airflow away from the door mirrors to help aerodynamics and reduce wind noise.

The body was designed using Nissan's 'smart fluidity' principle with the kicked-up roofline blending into a large spoiler while the wind cheating shape is further helped by the flat, smooth underfloor. The rear view is dominated by thin, gently curved, vertical taillights and is, of course, notable by the total absence of an exhaust pipe.

The colour palette has been expanded. There are now seven exterior colours available with a solid white, grey, red pearl metallic and black metallic joining metallic silver, white pearl and blue pearl metallic.

Interior

Significant changes within the cabin include new seats. As well as being redesigned for better support, the front-seats now incorporate height adjustment and have been reshaped to provide up to 53mm more leg room for rear seat passengers. This has been achieved by reprofiling the driver and front passenger seats to allow those in the rear to place their feet underneath them, increasing leg room.

At the same time, a new bio-fabric covering has been introduced for the Acenta grade. Where the original model featured material made from 39 per cent recycled plastic bottles, the new bio-fabric is 100 per cent derived from sugar cane, a sustainable and virtually CO2 neutral material. Black leather is fitted to the top of the range Tekna grade, and all grades are available with a more practical, dark interior finish, more suited to European winter conditions.

Other interior changes include a new foot operated parking brake allowing the space on the centre console previous taken up by the electric parking brake switch to be used for extra storage for a phone or keys.

New features and equipment

New Nissan LEAF introduces a revised and updated version of Nissan's acclaimed CarWings Navigation system. This innovative feature allows owners to manage and remotely control features from a computer or smartphone.

The updated version adds a number of new features, including enhancements to the remote heating and air-conditioning functions, greater smartphone integration, improved voice recognition facility and real-time information on the nearest charge points. It now supports nine additional languages including Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Polish, Greek, Czech, Slovak and Hungarian.

The popular CarWings telematics system has proved a hit with owners of the current vehicle, allowing unprecedented convenience for customers with a compatible phone, tablet or PC. One of the most popular features in the original LEAF is the ability to set the cars climate control to activate at a particular time, warming the car up or cooling it down before beginning a journey. This allows customers to save battery charge by warming or cooling the car from the mains supply while it is charging, rather than from the battery.

In markets with colder winters like Norway, the ability to pre-heat the car has proved very popular with customers enjoying warming the car to 22 degrees before a journey and avoiding clearing ice and snow. In response to customer feedback, the new CarWings system allows customer to choose the temperature the car should achieve by cooling or heating before a journey, improving convenience.

The navigation has been upgraded and now features eco-routing which automatically calculates a route for the lowest power consumption taking the terrain into consideration and avoiding sharp ascents for the most economical drive.

As well as a large colour touchscreen, satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones and music players - it can now display album cover art - the new system incorporates Google Send-To-Car technology which allows an owner to plan a journey on a PC or tablet at home or in the office and then send the instructions to the car.

On the Visia grade Nissan's new 'Connect 2' navigations system can be fitted as an option extra. It incorporates other advanced features including access to Google's POI search, and allows drivers to access up to date weather forecasts, local fuel prices and flight information.

The navigation system now includes a motorway 'exit view' complete with lane guidance to help when leaving highways and also displays prevailing speed limits with a driver-set speed warning that provides visual and audible alerts when the car hits a certain speed above the prevailing limit.

Nissan's innovative Around View Monitor (AVM) is a standard fitment on the Tekna grade of New LEAF. AVM uses a network of cameras to generate a 360-degree overhead image of the car on the central display, simplifying parking or any difficult manoeuvre.

Another feature is a purpose designed Bose® audio system which, like AVM, is standard on Tekna versions. The Energy Efficient Series system delivers a powerful, high quality audio experience but from a unit that's both more compact than similar premium systems and which uses about half the electrical energy. The seven speaker system comprises of two 25mm neodymium tweeters, one in each A-pillar, two 165 mm wide range speakers, one in each front door, two 130 mm wide range speakers, one in each rear door and a 115 mm Nd® Richbass® woofer in a 6.2 litre custom engineered acoustic waveguide bassbox in the boot.

Expanded line-up

There are now three models in the LEAF range, giving buyers a greater choice than before. Following Nissan practice, the range starts with the Visia model and scrolls through Acenta before reaching the top Tekna grade.

Visia models have a lower entry price point than the original LEAF, making zero-emission mobility even more accessible. Visia models have 16-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers, black mirror caps and halogen headlights. Front fog lights, i-Key and an audio system with four speakers are also standard.

Mid-range Acenta grade is generously equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, advanced IT with Carwings telematics, rear view monitor, remote charger and heating activation, rear privacy glass, a six-speaker sound system, body colour mirrors and automatic lights with follow-me home lighting.

Acenta models also have a quick charge port, rain sensing wipers and electric folding door mirrors.

The new top Tekna model adds LED headlamps, the seven-speaker Bose sound system, leather seats (optional in Nordic markets), 17-inch alloy wheels and Around View Monitor.

All versions have a full complement of safety equipment as standard with front side and curtain airbags as well as ABS, EBD and brake assistance. The Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) is also standard. Nissan LEAF gained a full five star EuroNCAP rating on its launch and was the first 100% electric vehicle to gain this safety rating
